Class Descriptions

Fall sessions are offered in sets of three from September - December, 2010.  The cost per session is $36 for non members or $30 for Hollow Rock members.  An initial, one-time $10 registration fee is due when signing up for classes. 

Water Babies: Ages 3 & under

This class is designed for children that have no real experience with formal swim instruction.  Parents and children will be in the water together working to increase comfort in the water with guidance from instructors. Max size 6

Tad Pole (Beginner): Ages 4 to 6

 

Participants have had little or no formal swim instruction and no real in water skills.  Must be able to follow instructions and actively participate in class without being disruptive.  Should be somewhat comfortable with water for example entering the water or having water in their face.  Max size 6

 

Guppy (Advanced Beginner): Ages 5 to 8 

 

Participants have had some formal instruction or some experience in the water.  Must be able to participate in a class setting.  Participants should have some mobility in the water and generally comfortable with water such as going under water.  Max size 6

 

Flounder (Intermediate): Ages 6 to 9

 

General ability in water basic knowledge of free style and back stroke.  Comfortable of with water such as floating on their backs or going underwater.  Should have some endurance while in water swimming.  Max size 6
 

Blue Marlin (Advanced): Ages
6 to 10

 

General ability in freestyle, back stroke, and breast stroke with the ability to swim some distance without stopping.  Comfortable level in water should be such that they are able to float and swim under water.  Max size 6
 

Piranha (Pre Competitive): Ages 6 to 10

 

Class participants have the ability to swim all four strokes at least one length of the pool with out stopping.  Must have some basic racing skills such as starts, diving, and flip turns.  This group is for advanced children or those interested in preparing for year round swimming.  Max size 6
